I wanted to update everyone on Brady's recovery. He has done GREAT!!! What a little trooper!
He had a couple of nights of getting back on the correct sleeping schedule with everyone, but by friday of last week, he was back to sleeping with his roommates. I think he "forgot" how to sleep through the night so he could continue sleeping in mom and dad's room. We're suckers!! The roughest part about his recovery was the medication. They had him on pain killers (which we stopped after day 3 and switched to Tylenol), Bladder spasm medicine and Antibiotics. ALL these medicines cause nausea and vomitting. So guess what Brady did, A LOT.... I felt so bad for him. He didnt even want to eat because he knew it would come right back up. We tried everything, dividing the dose up in small amounts over the day in his food, etc. But by the end, he was on to our ways, would take one sip of a bottle and know what we were doing. So that part was tough.
But we are all done with the medicine and he got his cath tube out Tuesday. They removed the stitches and the cath and he didnt even cry. I WAS SO PROUD!! They were very impressed by him. But he was for sure OVER that tube. The moment we got in the car, he SACKED OUT! I think it had just been irritating him enough not to sleep well, CAN YOU BLAME HIM? Doctor thinks the surgery was a success and that he will just need to follow up with him every 3 months til further notice.
We want to thank all of those who volunteered at our house and came over to help us with Brady and the other three kiddos. Sarah, Maureen, Crystal, Liz, Vicki, Jessica, my mom Debbie, Ashley and April, you guys rock! I could not have made it through this week without you. And poor Vicki, our former NICU nurse, was here on what could have been the quad's FUSSIEST day ever (no good explaination really) and she held it together like a champ!! Thanks you guys, we loved having you here!
We also want to personally post a message to a very special little boy in our lives. For you avid readers, you may have heard the names Clay & Raelyn before, they are dear friends of ours that have the worlds happiest, sweetest little boy, Levi. He was born just 3 weeks before our kiddos. A while back, i mentioned he would be having surgery because he had Craniosynostoses. Basically, its major head surgery that lasts hours with weeks of recovery (due to the soft spot closing up early). Well, Levi had his surgery on Monday and DID AWESOME!!!!! I mean, REALLY AWESOME! He was only in PICU for one night and a regular room another and got to come home! His parents are amazing people and held it together so well for him too. I just wanted you guys to add Levi to your thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery. So far, he is kicking butt but we want it to stay that way.
To help cheer Levi up in the hospital (okay, not really him, but his parents), the quads made signs for him and wanted to show them off (okay, i made them but they held them....kinda of)
After a couple of tries this is the best we could do.. :)

Hey, not bad for being home by myself having four infants hold signs and not crawl away...

Of course, just whipping out the camera turns them instantly into hams. Except Reid who is teething like crazy and chewing on her fingers.

Doctor visit today...
It was our 9 month check up.. sort of. They use the adjusted age of 7.5 months, they use the day they got discharged from the hospital as their adjusted age, some pedis use the due date, it varies. If you use the adjusted age from their due date, they are just under 7 months.
Their visit went well. I love our pedi Dr. Goebel and his primary nurse Staci, i would be lost with out them. They have been so good to us.
Reid has had what i thought was some kind of weird rash on her face and legs. Turns out she has eczema, and its a certain form. So got some instructions to correct that and it makes me feel better that its nothing terrible.
I am a little discouraged because i really felt like the kids were gaining weight well. Don't get me wrong, Dr. Goebel was happy with their weight but they are still on the small side in percentiles. I know Robbie and I arent exactly tall people, i mean im a tad over 5 feet so there is only so much i can do. Not to mention they are moving around like crazy now burning all sorts of calories.
But we are going to try some more things to try to get them more plump :).
All in all, they are healthy kids. He said they look "perfect". Their reflux is really starting to get better, somedays no spit up (trey still struggles the most with spit ups but it is better). We are now going to try to get off thickener slowly. We have been backing it down for the last couple weeks but we are going to try to get off of it all together pretty soon, YIPPEE!!!!! Music to me ears. I cant wait til that chapter of our lives is closed. Below are the weights..
Trey: 16 lbs 7oz
Brady: 16 lbs 7 oz (the boys are almost neck and neck, same at birth, same today)
Cameron: 17 lbs 2 oz (biggest at birth, biggest now and our longest at 27 inches)
Reid: 14 lbs 8 oz
Baby's mission... EAT. Mama's mission... FEED.
Also, I have two friends that are pregnant with quads right now. One i was paired up with in my local multiples group (PAMOM, love this group) and happens to live 2 miles from me. I attended her shower on Friday and met many of her wonderful friends and family. It really took me back! I just wanted my WONDERFUL blog readers/lurkers/friends to add her to your prayers. She had a cerclage put in, is 17 weeks along and is on bedrest at home. Her name is Jenna King (for your quad readers, yes this is another set of King quads :), hi Jennifer). Her husband, her daughter and her are great people and I just wanted all my super amazing readers to be praying for her and thinking about her. He blog roll is to the right (The King Family).
My other friend is Amy-Jo Sather and she is also doing great. We have the exact same doctors (all but one) and she is also having two and two (so is Jenna, CRAZY). Though Amy Jo has a set of identials (boys), she and Jenna are due a week apart. Amy-Jo is doing great and her I look forward to her shower in a week too. Please also pray for her and her husband Brandon. They are amazing people! (see blog roll to the right, Sathers learn to multiply, I LOVE THAT).
Will close with some photos. This blog post is already LONG so i am going to do another tomorrow (whats that you say... two in a row...YES) with pumpkin patch photos and halloween photos. The kids look super cute! Not too many pictures of Brady this week, as he wasn't exactly feeling himself (ie. happy).
Reid caught taking EVERY toy out one of the toy baskets

"No, its okay Dad, this is my stuff, and mommy loves picking it all up three times a day, its a fun game"

Sweet Trey posing for the camera, as always

Our little princess Cameron, so sweet lately, and she has learned to hug, so now she has taken her sweetness to a new level.

Reid.. where to start with Reid. She used to be my most quiet easy baby. Everyone who warned me that would all change once they started crawling was right. She is so determined to get what she wants when she wants it. I spend half my day following her around what i thought was a baby proofed living room, only to let her show me the things that i missed. At least when the next three start getting into EVERYTHING, i may be a step ahead of them, maybe. Oh and dont mind the carrots all over her, she is also the messiest eater.

Daddy got Trey up from his nap a little early to hang out. Poor baby has four top teething coming in ALL AT THE SAME TIME. So with actual tears but a smile on his face, happy to be out of his crib.

Not only is Reid into everything, she is resident bully. I know they are all planning sweet revenge as soon as they are crawling along with her (brady is days away from that and trey isnt far behind him). You can see her here in mid attack on Trey, he is her favorite target, i think because he just sits there and takes it, the other two get MAD. That is why she is wearing the "I'm in charge" bib. Somedays i feel like she is.

Talk to you guys tomorrow!
XO Casey
