It was a long day but he did GREAT!! We are so proud of him.
We got him out of bed as quietly as possible (as to not wake the other three around him) at 6:20am. Loaded him in his car seat as our wonderful friend Maureen arrived to hang out with the kids. My wonderful friend, Sarah, also came over to play with the other three as well (thank you ladies by the way so much). We headed to the hospital while B (that is generally what we call him) talked and played in his car seat.
As we arrived and took what i can best describe as the WORST mouse maze known to man, we finally got to where we needed to in the hospital (Children's Dallas). We checked in and waited (isn't that always have it is, hurry up and wait, so irritating). I thought for sure that Brady would be SUPER crabby since he hadn't had a bottle since his before bed bottle at 7pm the night before. But he did great. Sucked his hand off but still did great. He charmed EVERYONE in that hospital. Every person that talked to him, all the nurses, he put on his prince charming face COMPLETELY. Very entertaining and super cute.
After getting his vitals, they let me walk him to the double doors where they took him from me. I cried and he smiled and flirted with the nurses, hardly noticing i was upset. Which is a good thing, i guess. They told us to expect over 2 hours for surgery so we waited in the waiting room for what felt like FOREVER. But they did give me an update early on saying he went down just fine, laughing and smiling til the last minute. But the doctor came to talk to us after only an hour and a half! He said he did great, it went as well as it possibly could have and he has confidence that he will heal just fine. No surprises, which was great.
We were allowed to see him about 5 minutes later where he woke up in recovery. He was so sweet instantly and just was so thirsty! Major dry mouth, it looked like he was trying to chew something :). He got some pedialite first to see if he could hold it down and tolerate it. He did great. He never threw up. We were moved to a private room for the rest of recovery where things kinda changed a bit...
His "infant epidural" wore off and he FELT PAIN. He got very upset very quickly, trying to grab down there, and screaming. They gave him a dose of his pain meds and 5 minutes later he was out of it. Completely dazed, not asleep, just VERY relaxed. They made us stay another hour to make sure he didn't have any reaction to the med. He fell asleep in both of our arms as we took turns holding him and it was so great. We haven't had one of the babies fall asleep in our arms in a long time. Really took us back!
Finally we left and he did great on the car ride home as we filled his many scrips. We got home about 2:45pm, way earlier than expected. He slept a little at home but has been a little fussy. But in his defense, it does look painful. But he was able to drink two bottles and have a little applesauce well. And thank you, Ashley for watching the kids the second half of the day and helping us get them down. It was so great for us to really focus on Brady.
We are so proud of him! The hard part of the recovery will be the first three days but hopefully wont be too bad after that (swelling goes down). We will see how the night goes tonight with his pain. He is sleeping in our room. So i am off to get sleep so that i cant get up with him if he needs me.
PS the other three are doing great :) And to all those who have called, text or emailed and I haven't gotten back to yet, i will do so as soon as i can.
Here are some pics from today, sweet boy!
Daddy & B goofing off in the waiting room before the surgery

Rocking him after surgery, very different size from when i used to do that ;(

Brady had a death grip on each one of us when we held him, and he buried his head and cuddled in. So sweet.

Love, Casey
